Maine's a lot colder than Florida...duh!

Marxism of the day (contributed by Chris Benjamin): Your proposition may be good, but let's have one thing understood, Whatever it is I'm against it! -- Song from 'Horsefeathers'

Well, we've finally made it. We've been here a week yesterday and while I can't say the move was anywhere near perfect (or even easy) I'm still glad we made the move.

Here are a few tips for you that I have learned from this move:

1: When renting a truck, make sure the damn thing is big enough for all your stuff.

2: Never hire movers if at all possible. Only hire them if they have excellent personal references from people that you actually know and trust. They tend to not show when scheduled then call 2 hours later as if nothing were wrong.

3: Be sure that all of your stuff is packed at least two days before the move is scheduled. Never stay up all night the night before the move date packing the last room of your apartment/house.

4: (Related to number 3) Be sure to get a full night's sleep the night before the move. Never try to drive for 8 hours on 2 hours sleep.

5: Move in the summer. You can't control the weather, but it's much easier to drive in rain when it's light. In the summer you have light until almost 9:00 p.m. When it's raining, a sunset time of 5:00 p.m. is a bitch

6: Move to Maine. It's beautiful up here - and it snows!
